A Study of the Ethical Values of a Nursing College Students in a Region


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify whether ethical values of nursing college students were deontological or utilitarian.
The subjects of this study were 535 students who were attending nursing college in a Andong city.
The instrument used for this study was the ethical value questionnaire, developed by Lee.
Questionnaire survey was conducted from Mar. 9 till May 14 in 1992.
The analysis of collected. data was done by use of frequency, t-test and anova.The results were as follows:
1. The ethical values of the subjects took up the deontological position (Mean= 3.38). 2. There was no significant influencing variable on the subjects¢¥ ethical values in general characteristics.
The only variance which was related with the ethical values was the grade of subjects (F= 26.49, P <.01).
3. In the ethical values of human life area, all the grader groups took the neutral position, and there was no significant difference among three grader groups (grade I, II, III).
4. In the ethical values of Nr. -- client relationships area, all the grader groups took the deontological position, and there was significant difference among three grader groups (F= 12.10, P <.01).
5. In the ethical values of Nr. - nursing task relationships area, all the grader groups slightly took the deontological position, and there was significant difference among three grader groups (F= 28.68, P < .01).
6. In the ethical values of Nr. -- colleague relationships area, all the grader groups greatly took the deontological position, and there was significant difference among the three grader groups (F= 18.87, P <.01).
